Ethical Guidelines
Ethical Guidelines
Journal of Emerging and Innovative Technologies (JEIT) · Qassim University
The Editor-in-Chief and editorial team of JEIT are committed to the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in scholarly publishing. JEIT adheres to internationally recognized best practices including the COPE Best Practice Guidelines, the ICMJE Recommendations, and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (COPE, DOAJ, WAME, OASPA).
Plagiarism
Plagiarism in any form — including text, ideas, images, code, datasets, or previously published figures — is strictly prohibited. This includes self-plagiarism, where authors reuse their own previously published work without proper citation. All submissions are screened using iThenticate before peer review. Manuscripts with confirmed plagiarism are rejected immediately.
Peer Review
JEIT uses a double-blind peer-review system to ensure fairness and objectivity. Both author and reviewer identities remain confidential throughout the review process. Reviewers follow the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers and are selected based on expertise in engineering, computing, and emerging technologies.
Errata, Retractions, Withdrawals, and Expressions of Concern
Errata
Issued for factual errors that do not alter the scientific conclusions. A correction notice is linked to the original article.
Retractions
Published when findings are invalid due to major errors, plagiarism, fabrication, or ethical misconduct. Retracted articles remain online with a clear "Retracted" watermark and a linked retraction notice. JEIT follows COPE Retraction Guidelines.
Withdrawals
Applied before or after acceptance when ethical, legal, or authorship issues arise. Withdrawn manuscripts do not receive a DOI unless already published online.
Expressions of Concern
Issued when the validity of a publication is under investigation but conclusions are not yet reached.
Complaints Procedure
Complaints may be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief at jeit@qu.edu.sa. All cases are investigated following COPE guidance.
Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose all potential conflicts of interest — financial, academic, or personal — at submission. Disclosures appear in the published article. JEIT follows COPE's guidance on managing conflicts of interest.

- AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, image generators) cannot be listed as authors
- Any use of AI in writing, analysis, coding, or image generation must be fully disclosed
- Authors remain responsible for accuracy, originality, and absence of plagiarism
Ethics Approval
Required for:
- Human-subject research (IRB approval with protocol number)
- Clinical or biomedical engineering trials
- Animal studies (institutional animal ethics approval)
Research involving humans must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki. Manuscripts must include a statement confirming informed consent and ethics approval.
